Smart Trike

I got my son a Smart-Trike from Mothercare one of my Best Buys I must say.

It was on sale at the time for £49.99 it is an excellent product in my opinion.

My son has just turned 11 months old, the manufacture’s say it is suitable for 10 – 36 months (3 years old in normal language) I would say when your child is strong enough to sit upright and unsupported for some that may even be from 8/9 months, however check that the straps will reduce to the safe size you need.

I am currently using it in parent mode which means I push it along with the long handle, and the there is no need to over steer as the trike will follow the direction to walk and push it in. It feels very stroller like.

The only problem I have had so far is reversing/rolling it backwards. It travels on grass and pavement very well, I first tried it at the park and I pushed him from my car to the chip shop for a quick mummy snack and then to the park so it handled the various ground types superbly. It was very easy to push my 10 year old daughter was pushing him around in it for ages it is lightweight even when the baby is in the seat and my son is heavy and it is not heavy to push.

You can use this for quick walks instead of getting the pushchair or stroller for short journeys. The only issue I had was when I got to the shop it had a step so I had to lift the Trike over whilst negotiating the door. If you do use this instead of stroller I would advise to be mindful of whether you think your child would fall asleep during the journey as it is not made for that ‘The Original’ does not recline it is also open to all the elements of weather so short journeys are best so that you can head back to car or home if it rains heavy or your child falls asleep.
