School Marathon

So like most people I join the dreaded school run in the mornings. Let’s be real School Marathon, there’s one infamous morning I’ll never forget.

It all starts at 6am when I put my alarm on snooze for the 1st time, due to being repeatedly woken during the night by my son who is still breast feeding, so I am still tired. Don’t judge me.

Anyway 10 minute snooze fest goes on for awhile until it reaches 7:10am. Now I am LATE!

I run into my daughter’s bedroom who, without a mallet or perfectly timed bucket of water, will magically sleep through any kind of alarm I get her; she is dead to the world as usual so after shaking her, offering breakfast in bed and all sorts, my patience finally runs out and now I am shouting get in the shower now!

My husband is running in and out of every room looking for something… I never quite know what that something is (something electrical usually). By the time my daughter has showered, I manage to jump in for 5 mins and step out to hear the beautiful screaming of my ever patient baby boy.

Now whilst in towel and breast feeding, I must direct my daughter to find her school bag, homework, coat and to finish breakfast and drink water. She’s ready to go,  I usually enjoy taking my time with my body lotion and getting ready, but no time for that because now I’m making her late. I throw on what ever is closest to me. I toss my car keys to my daughter and tell her to get to the car, which just my luck is frozen all over so I shout “Scrape the car”.

Baby is wrapped up in his snowsuit, I have a matching pair of shoes on, so that’s good. I rush outside to the car, my neighbour sees me, she’s so lovely but wants to stop for a chat. Doesn’t she know by the look on my face that this isn’t the time?!

I get to the car to see its still frozen! No scrapper, I now have to strap baby in and search for a make shift scrapper, an old leaflet for gym… lets be real I was never going to use that anyway. I scrape the windows. Set off only 5 mins late today, when we arrive at the school it was inset day.
