Half-Term-Tips

It’s always hard keeping kids entertained during the school breaks, especially if you have more than one- it can get really expensive really quick. So here are a few ideas I wanted to share with you. If you have more please leave them in the comment section below.


Sleepovers

If it’s not at your house even better – less mess and one less kid

If your feeling adventurous camp in the back garden

 

Movie Night

With old fashioned treats with a few chosen friends

Fairy cakes, or if your not up to that, just get come icing sugar and some food colouring to decorate some of their favourite biscuits

 

Museums

Many have free entry and kids absolutely love them

Take a bus/train if you usually drive, to add excitement & also wear them out!

 

Go Outside

Biking, Hiking, Skating …and whatever the active verb for Heely is.

 

For your smaller ones

You can go on a bear hunt in local woods.

Lets not forget the good old park

Your local library or children centre usually will have activities on too

That’s sure to burn energy

Check with the staff as you may find that you can leave children over a certain age for free

 

Swimming

Kids can swim for a quid nowadays at many leisure centres

Many councils offer free swimming for under 16s so make the most of it while you can

Check beforehand as you may need to register to part take in this opportunity

 

Gaming

If you have children like mine who often see venturing outside away from PC as a capital punishment, how about planning and designing your own games on some free websites

 

Cinema Going to the cinema these days can cost a small fortune, here’s a little tip…

Fill their tiny tummies up before you leave so that they do not ask for every snack under the sun

Make a quick stop to your local £pound shop and grab their favourite go to bites maybe even some popcorn (just make sure you have a decent size handbag)

Junior Showings

The films are a little older but unless you’re a cinema regular chances are your tot has yet to see some of the films on offer.

At Cineworld movies for juniors you can watch a film for just £1.75 (only £3.25 for 3D!).

Just select your local cinema and chose a film. This week It’s The Iron Giant, The Good Dinosaur, Star Wars:The Force awakens and Hotel Transylvania.  Cineworld Movies 4 Juniors

They do a similar thing at the Odeon Tickets for ODEON Kids are £2.50 participating cinemas only, except at: Weston Super Mare (£2), Dundee, Bristol and Belfast (£1.50), Worcester, Telford and Dorchester (£1). Odeon Kids
